Smart system design delivers across the board
At Holzbau Hillebrand, the container placement was designed to save maximum space: thanks to an innovative steel structure, it is positioned directly beneath the filter unit.
In January 2026, Holzbau Hillebrand relocated its timber construction operation to a new production facility in Großgmain near Salzburg. At the new site, we installed a segus negative pressure extraction system with an air volume of 31,000 m³/h. To ensure long-term readiness, the company chose an extraction solution with around one-third higher air capacity than the previous system.
Currently, 16 machines are connected to the system, including fine dust extraction for the CNC-controlled joinery line. The wood chips are transported via a conveying system into a container, which is positioned in a particularly space-saving way within the steel structure beneath the filter.
Reliable material discharge without compromise
“We now have headroom again—quite literally,” says Christian Schoosleitner, Managing Director Timber Construction at Holzbau Hillebrand, referring to the new extraction system. “Our top priority when selecting the system was ensuring it transports chips as reliably and trouble-free as possible. That was especially important to us because, with our diverse product portfolio, no two days are the same. Of course, the system also needed to be energy-efficient. Scheuch LIGNO offers a very solid fire protection concept, which allowed us to position the filter very close to the production hall.”
segus – the extraction system with negative pressure control for optimal productivity
segus is a technically advanced and cost-efficient extraction solution. At Holzbau Hillebrand, the extraction line was divided into three groups. The extracted chip-dust mixture is conveyed through piping into the filter unit, where it is discharged. The cleaned air is then moved by a high-performance fan and can either be discharged outdoors or, if required, recirculated back into the production hall via a diverter damper.
A frequency inverter adjusts the fan performance to the negative pressure required for the respective operating condition. If only part of the machinery is in operation, the air volume is automatically reduced to the actually required level—resulting in significant energy savings.
“We felt in good hands with Scheuch LIGNO right from the start”
Christian Schoosleitner is also highly satisfied with the choice of supplier: “We evaluated several providers on the market. Scheuch LIGNO made a very professional impression on us. We also received excellent feedback about the company from one of our partner businesses. The pricing was right, and the support and consulting during the planning phase were very convincing. We felt in good hands right from the start. The implementation was challenging for everyone, as installation took place over the turn of the year and production downtime had to be kept as short as possible. We had a truly excellent assembler on site who coordinated everything perfectly, responded well to our requirements, and always acted quickly and efficiently. We are still very happy with our decision to go with Scheuch LIGNO.”
Hillebrand – timber construction without limits
Hillebrand Holzbau, based in Wals/Großgmain, delivers virtually everything that can be built with wood. Projects range from roof structures and single-family homes to residential complexes using timber hybrid construction. Founded more than 80 years ago as a craft business, the company has grown into one of the most well-known timber construction firms in the Salzburg and southern Bavaria region. By combining traditional craftsmanship with innovative construction methods and modern technology, the company’s 45 employees handle a wide variety of projects. More information at www.hillebrand.at

„The filter was designed with a steel structure that allowed us to position the container underneath. This was also a key factor in our decision to choose Scheuch LIGNO.“
