Clean air for staff

New extraction system for emulsion fumes at METTEC CNC in Buchkirchen, Upper Austria

METTEC CNC Metallbearbeitung und Gussteilfertigung GmbH, one of the leading providers in precision metal processing, has expanded its premises with a new production hall. Emulsion fumes generated by the machining equipment are extracted directly at each machine using a system from Scheuch LIGNO. But that’s not all: the system also extracts the hall air, totaling approximately 20,000 m³/h. The heat produced by the machining processes is largely recovered during winter through a highly efficient energy recovery system. The hall can be ventilated with preheated fresh air or temperature-controlled in recirculation mode which ensures a comfortable working environment for all employees at the machines.

“Everything works seamlessly”

“We requested two proposals for the extraction system. Scheuch LIGNO convinced us with both their concept and their pricing. Everything was completed on schedule, and everything works seamlessly. Of course, it was also important to us that the system operates energy-efficiently and quietly. This was implemented perfectly. I can highly recommend Scheuch LIGNO at any time,” emphasizes Michael Schneider, CEO of METTEC CNC.

Minimizing dust, fumes, and more

Metal processing and manufacturing involve various procedures such as welding, grinding, polishing, coating, painting, laser and plasma cutting, or machining processes. These methods all have one thing in common: they generate emissions in the form of fine dust, fumes, gases, and vapors that can be harmful to health and negatively impact product quality. To minimize exposure to these emissions, all machining equipment at METTEC CNC is directly connected to extraction systems. The machine cabins are maintained under negative pressure, ensuring that no emulsion fumes can escape. The separation of the emulsion is carried out using specialized oil fume separators with a filtration efficiency of at least 99.8%.

Extracting Emulsions in Machining Processes

In machining processes, such as fully automated CNC machines or conventional drilling operations, emulsions are used to improve machining quality and tool life. During these processes, so-called emulsion fumes are generated, which can negatively affect the health of employees. To address these challenges, Scheuch LIGNO offers specially developed filters that efficiently purify the air, protecting employee health and extending machine lifespan. The extraction and fresh air system is equipped with sound insulation, ensuring exceptionally quiet operation that benefits both employees and neighboring residents.

METTEC CNC – Excellence Under One Roof

METTEC CNC Metal Processing was established in 2004 as an additional business unit within the METTEC family at the Buchkirchen site. With extensive expertise, the company quickly developed into one of the leading providers in precision machining. By utilizing the latest technologies and maintaining a modern, extensive range of machinery, METTEC CNC ensures fast and precise processing of various materials, from plastics to super duplex steel – from prototypes to large-scale production.
